Examples of blue-chip stocks
There is no formal list of blue-chip stocks, but the components represented in a well-known index are typically considered to be such and are referred to as blue-chip indices - this includes global indices such as the Dow Jones, the DAX, the CAC 40, and the Euro Stoxx 50. Indices such as the FTSE 100 and S&P 500 include both blue-chip stocks and large- or mid-cap companies that aren't blue chip.

Blue-chip stocks are volatile, but some common examples include:
Apple
Coca-Cola
Disney
IBM
Johnson & Johnson
Microsoft
Nike
Pfizer
Verizon
Wal-Mart
Blue-chip stocks refer to shares of large, well-established companies with a history of stable performance, strong financials, and a reputation for reliability. These stocks are considered solid long-term investments, often paying dividends and demonstrating resilience even in challenging economic conditions. Examples of blue-chip stocks include household names such as Apple Inc. (AAPL), Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), The Coca-Cola Company (KO), and Procter & Gamble Co. (PG). These companies are leaders in their respective industries, exhibiting a track record of consistent growth and financial stability. Investors are drawn to blue-chip stocks for their relative safety and potential for capital appreciation. The selection of blue-chip stocks may vary across industries, but they commonly share characteristics such as large market capitalization, established brand presence, and a history of delivering value to shareholders.
