Mid-cap stocks refer to shares of companies with a market capitalization typically between $2 billion and $10 billion. These companies are generally in a growth phase, offering a balance between the stability of large-cap stocks and the growth potential of small-cap stocks.

Investing in mid-cap stocks can be attractive because these companies often have established business models and market presence, reducing some of the risks associated with smaller companies. At the same time, they have more room for growth compared to large-cap stocks, which can lead to higher returns. However, mid-cap stocks can still be volatile, and their performance may be influenced by market conditions and economic cycles, requiring careful consideration by investors.
