What is chartist?
A chartist is a trader who relies heavily on charts to understand the historical price movements of a financial instrument in order to better predict and speculate on its future performance. Technical analysts and technical traders are other terms for them.
There are several patterns that chartists will look for as indicators of an instrument's future direction. They will determine support and resistance levels - or the maximum the markets appear to be willing to let an asset move in a particular direction - in order to identify the best times to buy and sell assets such as stocks, indices, forex, and many others.
Fundamental analysts, on the other hand, look at an asset's current fundamentals to determine the best time to buy and sell. When developing a trading strategy, many traders will employ both fundamental and technical analysis.

A chartist is an individual who practices technical analysis in financial markets, utilizing charts and historical price patterns to make predictions about future price movements. Chartist analysis involves studying various chart patterns, such as trends, support and resistance levels, and technical indicators, to identify potential buying or selling opportunities. Chartists believe that historical price movements can provide insights into future market behavior, helping them make informed trading decisions. This approach is common in stocks, commodities, and other financial instruments, as chartists aim to uncover trends and patterns that may indicate the optimal times to enter or exit positions.
