What is aftermarket?
Aftermarket refers to the market for goods and services that become available after the initial sale of a product. It encompasses all the activities and transactions related to the maintenance, repair, upgrading, and customization of products that are already in the hands of consumers.

In the context of automobiles, the aftermarket includes parts, accessories, and services that are not provided by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). It offers consumers a wide range of options to enhance, modify, or repair their vehicles according to their preferences or specific needs. This can include installing performance parts, upgrading audio systems, or getting regular maintenance and repairs done at independent repair shops.

Similarly, the term aftermarket is also used in the financial markets, specifically in relation to the trading of securities after the primary market offering. Aftermarket trading allows investors to buy and sell shares of a publicly traded company on the secondary market, such as stock exchanges, once the initial public offering (IPO) has taken place.

Overall, the aftermarket plays a significant role in providing consumers with additional choices, customization options, and aftermarket services, extending the lifespan and value of products beyond their original sale.
