The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is one of the world’s largest and oldest stock exchanges, founded in 1801. Located in London, it serves as a key global financial hub. The LSE lists a wide range of securities, including stocks, bonds, and derivatives, and hosts companies from various industries and countries.

It operates two main markets: the Main Market, for established companies, and AIM (Alternative Investment Market), designed for smaller, growing companies. The exchange plays a central role in capital raising, providing liquidity and transparency to investors. It is known for its benchmark index, the FTSE 100, which tracks the top 100 companies by market capitalization. The LSE is vital in connecting investors to European and global financial markets.
