NAD is the ISO 4217 currency code for the Namibian dollar. Namibia's official currency is the Namibian Dollar. The Dollar was introduced in 1993 to replace the South African Rand after the country gained independence in 1990. Because the Namibia Dollar is pegged to the Rand, the Rand remains legal tender.
