Who developed Kadena and when was it launched?
Kadena was developed by a team of experts led by Stuart Popejoy and Will Martino. The project was launched in 2016, with the aim of creating a scalable and secure blockchain platform to address the limitations of existing blockchain technologies.

Stuart Popejoy, who serves as the President of Kadena, has a strong background in financial services and technology. He previously worked as an engineer at JPMorgan Chase, where he gained extensive experience in building and implementing blockchain solutions. Will Martino, the CEO of Kadena, has a background in hedge funds and data analytics, bringing valuable insights into the development of the platform.

Kadena officially launched its mainnet in January 2020, marking a significant milestone in its journey. The launch of the mainnet introduced the Kadena blockchain to the public, allowing users to leverage its unique features, such as its hybrid consensus mechanism, scalable architecture, and smart contract capabilities.

Since its launch, Kadena has continued to evolve and enhance its platform, attracting attention from various industries and establishing partnerships to drive adoption and innovation within the blockchain space.
Kadena was developed by Will Martino and Stuart Popejoy, both former J.P. Morgan blockchain experts. Martino, a former lead engineer for Juno (J.P. Morgan’s blockchain project), and Popejoy, who led the bank’s blockchain group, founded Kadena in 2016. The platform was designed to solve scalability and security issues in blockchain technology.

Kadena’s public blockchain (Chainweb) launched in January 2020, introducing a unique Proof-of-Work (PoW) multi-chain architecture for high throughput. Its hybrid blockchain model supports both public and private networks, along with Pact, its smart contract language.

Kadena aims to bridge enterprise and decentralised finance (DeFi) needs, offering fast, secure, and scalable blockchain solutions.
