Who created Basic Attention Token and when was it launched?
Basic Attention Token (BAT) was created by Brendan Eich, who is also the co-founder of the Brave browser. Eich is a well-known figure in the tech industry, having previously co-founded Mozilla and created the JavaScript programming language.

BAT was officially launched in May 2017 through an initial coin offering (ICO) that raised approximately $35 million in under 30 seconds, demonstrating significant investor interest in the project. The purpose of creating BAT was to address the inefficiencies and challenges present in the digital advertising industry, such as privacy invasions, ad fraud, and user exploitation.

BAT operates on the Ethereum blockchain and is designed to revolutionize the way digital advertising works by introducing a decentralized, transparent, and privacy-focused ecosystem. Through the Brave browser, users can opt-in to view ads and receive BAT tokens as rewards for their attention. These tokens can then be used to support content creators and publishers, or exchanged for other cryptocurrencies or fiat currency.

Since its launch, BAT has garnered attention for its innovative approach to online advertising and its potential to reshape the digital landscape. With its emphasis on user privacy, fair compensation for content creators, and a more efficient advertising model, BAT continues to gain traction as a promising project in the cryptocurrency space.
