What is Orchid (OXT)?
Orchid is a blockchain-based platform that provides users with decentralized access to virtual private network (VPN) services. The primary goal of this platform is to enable users all over the world to circumvent corporate or government censorship in order to access Internet services freely and privately.
Orchid has a pool of connectivity providers that can direct user traffic to achieve this goal. The platform compensates these providers with Orchid (OXT) tokens in exchange for the services they provide. These tokens compensate providers for directed traffic as well as the energy required to handle this traffic securely.
Orchid is a protocol developed by a large group of experienced developers. Jake S. Cannell, Justin Schick, Jay Freeman, Greg Hazel, Jennifer Rodriguez-Muller, Eric Howe, Brian J. Fox, and Dr. Steven Waterhouse are among those named. Since 2017, when the project was founded, all of these developers have pooled their resources to investigate Internet censorship. After two years of hard work, the Orchid network was launched in 2019 and the project's whitepaper was published. Orchid has evolved into a decentralized private browsing network with financial incentives and hotspots all over the world since its inception.

Orchid (OXT) is a cryptocurrency that operates within the broader context of decentralized finance (DeFi). Launched in 2017, Orchid aims to enhance online privacy and security by leveraging blockchain technology. The project focuses on creating a decentralized virtual private network (VPN) marketplace where users can buy and sell bandwidth using OXT tokens.

Unlike traditional VPN services that rely on centralized servers, Orchid utilizes a decentralized network of node operators. These nodes contribute to the network by providing bandwidth and facilitating the transfer of encrypted data between users. Users, in turn, can pay for these services using Orchid's native cryptocurrency, OXT.

Orchid employs a unique payment mechanism called probabilistic nanopayments, allowing users to make microtransactions for precise amounts of bandwidth without the need for traditional subscription models. This approach enhances flexibility and affordability for users seeking privacy and security in their online activities.

The decentralized nature of Orchid's VPN marketplace contributes to increased resilience against censorship and surveillance, as there is no central authority controlling the network. As the demand for online privacy grows, Orchid plays a crucial role in providing a decentralized solution that empowers individuals to protect their digital identities and data.
