Each miner in the pool runs hardware (often ASICs for the Scrypt algorithm) and connects via mining software to a central pool server. The pool assigns tasks (called “shares”) to each miner—these are units of work showing you contributed toward finding a block. When the pool as a whole succeeds in mining a block (earning the DOGE reward plus transaction fees), that reward is split among participants based on how many shares each submitted. Pools usually charge a small fee, and there are different payout methods like proportional, PPS (pay-per-share), and PPLNS (pay-per-last-N-shares), which affect how and when you get your share. The result: more frequent, smaller, predictable earnings rather than waiting a long time to win a full block solo.
