What has been the evolution of Bitcoin over the years?
Bitcoin price has risen massively since it was launched over a decade ago, but economists are still studying the effect the hard limit has had on it. Mining one block yielded 50 Bitcoins in 2009 (although the value was lower). A year later, 10,000 Bitcoins were exchanged for two pizzas. Four years after the cryptocurrency was launched, the first halving took place in 2012. As a result, each block began yielding only 25 Bitcoins. In 2013, the virtual currency picked up a lot of value, going from $50 to $200 (roughly Rs. 14,860). The second halving in 2016 brought that number down to 12.5, and the third halving in 2019. Each block mined in 2020 yielded 6.25 Bitcoins.

One Bitcoin was valued at around $10,000 last year, and it has since risen by four times. Bitcoin's value increased as mining became harder.
